Lace and Tweed

A few weekends ago I went to the Lace and Tweed Vintage Fair which is hosted twice a year in Guildford.

Here is the outfit that I wore on the day...

The dress is a recent acquisition from Fab Gabs on Etsy and I am pretty much in love with everything in that shop!  If only it were all my size *sigh*... luckily for me this dress was my size!

Although I am not a fan of the colder months, there is one good thing about winter approaching - I get to wear fur!  This fox fur stole is particularly practical as I can wear it with a lot of my jackets and coats.

I hadn't been to this particular fair before but was told that there was some great vintage for sale so I decided to make the train trip to check it out.  I don't always travel so far to go to vintage fairs as they are not always worth the money or effort travelling.  There was some really great vintage on offer but I didn't buy much (a 1950s jacket for my guy, a pair of 1940s gloves and some 1950s cat eye sunglasses.)

There were also some very well dressed people in attendance (something I don't always see at local fairs) and I just had to snap a photo of this vintage lady in her autumnal dress - doesn't she look great?

Dress: Vintage from Fab Gabs on Etsy
Shoes: Vintage from Clerkenwell Vintage Fair
Bag: Vintage from eBay
Gloves: Vintage, gift
Hat: Vintage from Etsy
Fox fur: Vintage from a New York Flea Market
Jacket: Vintage from Ballyhoo Vintage

  1. Oh, how I would love to go to a fair named: Lace and Tweed. You can't find anything similar here in my region. You looked great and as I suppose you're wearing a vintage fur, I like the whole outfit. What I like particularly is that you matched all the colours so thoughtfully. That's a thing that annoys me when looking through modern fashion magazines or looking at the so called celebrities. There are lots of outfit combinations that do not go well together. Why is that? Do they think it's so very cool and fashionable to wear items that don't harmonise? What do you think?

    1. Thanks :) I think some people can probably put an outfit together that's a mish mash of colours and look good but for me, I definitely prefer to try and match colours in an outfit :)

  2. This is a beautiful outfit, the fur stole makes it very glamorous indeed. It is good that you found some treasures given the distance you travelled!

  3. So beautiful! I love the fur stole. Definitely no vintage fairs in Asia that I know of. :( Everything here is new, new, new!

  4. Ooh, the lady in the autumnal dress looks so nice.

Fabgabs is excellent, and that dress is made of WIN. Any Etsy shop that divides stock by waist size gets my interest, it makes shopping so much easier for plus-sizers.

  6. Ha. You know it's a good outfit (or something on etsy, etc), when I'm sitting alone at a computer talking to myself - "What. Shut up." Everything about this is perfection. The dress pattern, the gloves, the box purse (!!!), the fox cardigan (!!!!!!), the hat... all destined to be together. *Applause*
