Not another floral print dress...

I wore this outfit when I went out for dinner for my Birthday a few months ago.  I have to admit, recently, I have really gone off 1950s floral print dresses... I do really like this one but I see so many floral prints on Etsy that they all start to look the same.  I try to look for more interesting or different prints in 1950s dresses (and I seem to have bought a lot of plaid dresses!)  As a result, there will be a couple of floral print dresses in my wardrobe that I plan on selling as I know I won't be wearing them anymore.

I think the reason I still like this dress is that I like the black and blue combination, it is great for accessorising.

I got to wear my new Atomic demi parure on this occasion.  The brooch is almost hidden on this dress!  I don't really like clip on earrings and I try to purchase screw back styles where possible but when the earring are this amazing, then I make an exception.

  1. This dress is stunning, the colors are so beautiful! The ensemble is lovely overall, I think I have seen the same jewelry set while browsing Etsy before and it matches perfectly with the dress!

  2. I really love that earring/brooch set! Very atomic, and kind of reminds me of a pin cushion! :)

  3. That demi-parure is *excellent* - a good atomic set always looks so good.

  4. I really like the print and colours of this dress. The jewellery set is great. I struggle with clip on earrings, they always seem to cut off the circulation in my ear lobe! Am wondering if changing the fittings would count as vintage destruction or a reasonable tweak to make things wearable!

  6. I love the color combination of that dress. It's so striking, and it looks absolutely beautiful on you. I do get what you mean about all those floral print dresses starting to blur before your eyes, though - as beautiful as they are, they can get really samey. Definitely keep this one, it's a stunner!

i had to check the collection of prints in my 50s wadrobe, when i read your post about you having too many floral printed dresses ... actually i have a good mix and i would love to add some more flowered ones to the family.

  8. You look gorgeous! It's not usual to find a black dress with colorfull flowers like this one. I really love floral patterns, but also novelties, border prints, atomic.... but floral is always cheapper even if the dress is stunning because a lot girls feels like flowers is for grannies..

  9. So pretty!!! I am solidly of the mind that one can never have, nor wear, too many floral print frocks. There is so much diversity to be had amongst them and countless ways to style them, pulling hues from the patterns for your accessories, and dressing them up or down. Rarely does a week go past that I don't wear a floral dress (or skirt or blouse) and count them as my very favourite type of patterned garment.
