The Christmas Dress

Happy New Year!  My first post of the year reflects on what I wore on Christmas Day...

This dress arrived a few weeks before Christmas and it just made sense to wear it on Christmas Day with some red and white accessories.  I love the ivy embroidery around the neckline and cuffs.  Unfortunately it was a bit too big for me so since wearing this dress, I have actually sold it to someone else.  I have been quite ruthless in the last few months with some of my vintage items, ones that I know I am unlikely to wear again for whatever reason, I will try to sell on.

I am also wearing two petticoats with this dress!  A very full reproduction one with my less full vintage one on top.  I normally only wear the vintage one so it was very strange wearing such a full petticoat, I felt like I was going to knock things over wherever I went.

I am also wearing my new poinsettia hair clip from Rosie Alia Designs on Etsy, she has some great hair accessories in her shop.

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year :)

  2. What a beautiful dress! It's really too bad it was too big for you, because it looks lovely on you.

    1. Thanks, I am *slightly* regretting selling it but it really was too big on the waist so it needed to go!

  4. I like this dress - the colour suits you and the embriodery gives a nice finishing touch. You would never guess from the photos that it is too big for you!

I made a mistake with a dress I bought in a charity shop recently which was a size too big - but in my defence it had an incorrect label. I might do a post on it shortly just for fun - bit I donated it back so that the charity can benefit twice from it!

    1. Thanks, it was ok with the belt but then because it was quite a thick material, the hem became uneven!

the green dress is amazing. the colour looks perfect on you!
... since my 'everyday' pettycoat got a little worn out and got missing some volume i played around with 'new' vintage ones and wearing old ones in layers ... so i know how it feels to feel like knocking over things ... ;)

    1. I know, it's funny isn't it?! My vintage one isn't very full which is how I like it most of the time but sometimes you just need that super full 50s silhouette! Hope you have a great 2015 :)
